i dont mean they take full control of it like in a communist state, but have goverment people inspecting the newspapers i dont mean to take out criticism about the goverment, but in a way like the british goverment did in WW2 when they wouldnt let things get put in a newspaper if it would damage peoples spirits.
i say this because in the UK we just see stabbings, shootings etc (usually to do with kids), kids being on ASBO's (anti-social behaviour order) etc. so it damages people self esteem, we never hear about the thousands of kids who are doing good things.
how will children feel happy about them selves with constantly showing the bad things without none of the good, a kid cannot walk or stand on a street corner talking to another kid, without people being suspicious or preparing to phone the police. The media is damaging the country, so should we put control on it
Should the media stop being made free and let the goverment take control of it?
They do.That's why crime increases and draconian laws are on the books all over the world.
Reply:You Brits deserve all the protection you can muster for yourselves. Ever think of taking some personal responsibility and not reading or turning it off? You deserve this article:
Britain, the country with the world's biggest network of surveillance cameras, has the worst record in Europe for the protection of privacy, according to a report from a London-based international watchdog.
"The impact was worst in the US and across the EU as governments boosted surveillance and information gathering in the name of security and protecting borders."
The US performed worst among democratic countries in terms of "statutory protections and privacy enforcement".

Reply:From an American perspective, I'm against anything that gives the government more control and accordingly takes freedom away from citizens. We have a lot of negative press in the U.S., and much of it is along the same lines as the stuff you described (stabbings, shootings, etc.), so my choice is to ignore the mainstream media as much as possible.
Personally, I think the best thing we as citizens could do would be to take aim at the media and tell them we're tired of this crap. Boycotting or forming coalitions of citizens to protest against media organizations (or even sue them in some cases) just might get their attention...
