To portray a criminal is to create a criminal and the media creates the criminal?

Its is to give glory to the criminal in to create future criminals within the community .Is the movie and music industry and past criminals who are glory mungers creating criminals out of men women and children in society and breed sexual predators and drugi's in the world society that do not understand that what they do does not create economics .I believe that if the government introduced social welfare cards to combat crime that can be used at the super market and cannot use government money for Drugs but only food ,lighting and accomodation can be used with this social welfare card. Its American Drugs that are killing Australian Men women and children and the private drug industry's chemical structures that make drugs are responsible for drugs in the community and should the government be held accountable for drugs in the community and the private sector as they also created the drugs .The criminal educated destroy society as well.

To portray a criminal is to create a criminal and the media creates the criminal?
So much for the concept of free will and personal choice.
Reply:Really, it is the ones that enable them all to make money doing it. So the ones that create the criminals are the public that pay for the magazines, newspapers, access to tv shows, movie tickets, books, tickets to listen to the speakers, pay for cable, etc.

Why are teen pregnancies reported as a social malady while unwed pregnancies receive little attention?

The liberal media is distorting values and issues by shifting attention away from marital status to fucus on age, as though the age of a young woman is the problem.

Why are teen pregnancies reported as a social malady while unwed pregnancies receive little attention?
Because it is a greater problem that simply unwed women who are pregnant. An adult woman is far more capable of caring and providing for a child. Pregnant teens usually have to quit school, which makes life forever after much more difficult for their children, not to mention emotional and mental maturation that come with age. The problem is that it is KIDS having kids. Grown women who are single (or in a relationship but not "wed") having kids is entirely different.

Do you REALLY not see the difference? It's a PRACTICAL issue, not moral or "religious."
Reply:I'm guessing that you are already aware of the many physical, social and economical problems associated with teen pregnancy. Having said that, I am aware of what you see as injustice from the media. My best answer is this:

the focus on teen pregnancy is highlighted BECAUSE of the BURDEN this situation places on the individual, the family and society as a whole.
Reply:The age of the woman IS the problem, idiot.

If you're under 18, you haven't finished high school, you've probably never held down a job, and if you have, you certainly don't have 5 years job experience. Also, you are not an adult.

If you're 30 years old, not married, what difference does it make? You're old enough to take care of yourself and your kid. Who cares if you're married?

Things happen in marriages. Death, divorce, trauma, whatever. Most women end up being single mothers anyway. Sure, it would be easier to handle with the support of a husband. I agree. But, the reality is that it is not as much as a burden if you have an education and some work experience.

Teenage girls who get knocked up are a burden on their parents, society...
Reply:as you say the persons reporting the issues can slant them as they wish and polls / surveys can be regulated to prove the point such a writer would like to make.

In general I think too many people have kids too young.
Reply:Often 'the age' is the problem ~ or rather ~ at the age of the teen whom has not yet absorbed the education offered up to her, whilst quite likely to have received and absorbed seamen offered to her.

Sash.
Reply:I agree that people are having babies at a young age but I do not believe that because of this that the baby should have to pay for that by having to be aborted. I think that those teens who do have babies at a young age... that could be a life lesson, and if they dont want the baby then they could alwas give the baby up for adotion.
Reply:Teen pregnancy is a bigger problem than older unwed women birthing babies because teens most likely do no have the financial/emotional means to sustain a child.

(there are exceptions to every rule though)

Unwed older women %26amp; pregnancy are less of a burden on society as they should be of age where they can provide for the child financially/emotionally. (there are exceptions to this rule too)
Reply:Distorting what values and issues, exactly?

Yes, when children have children it IS a problem, as the child with a child is in a mess. Said child isn't mature enough to deal with raising a child; has no money to feed them both; and has a hard time finishing school, so as to be in a position to feed either one of them.

Problem. (Whole host of problems, actually.)

If a couple has kids, and they aren't married, but are a stable couple, there's no problem.

Just How LEFT wing is the News Media?

Top Seattle Times Editor Admits Majority of Newsroom Votes 'Blue,' Driven by 'Activism'

"If we wore our politics on our sleeves in here, I have no doubt that

in this and in most other mainstream newsrooms in America, the

majority of those sleeves would be of the same color: blue. Survey

after survey over the years have demonstrated that most of the people

who go into this business tend to vote Democratic, at least in

national elections. That is not particularly surprising, given how

people make career decisions and that social service and activism is

a primary driver for many journalists."

He also cited a local television station being investigated on airing video clips of one protest (republican) that had over 20,000 people in attendance - and showing the clip stating it was a democrat protest. Which in fact, the democrat protest yielded about 100 people and after initially airing that clip - they swapped the video footage and reversed the actual footage.

Pointing out that some reporters have a leftist bias is irrelevant. They do not control the editorial process. Those that do have showed a clear rightward bias in 2000. Pretending otherwise is just demonstrating ignorance.

If that bias has shifted since then (and despite the liberal media myth that is still a BIG if) perhaps the right should have a read of the criticisms of their boy and see if they can learn from their mistakes instead of just complaining when people point them out.

Did you know that Wright's church is blaming the media for this?

"Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.’s character is being assassinated in the public sphere because he has preached a social gospel on behalf of oppressed women, children and men in America and around the globe." ~Reverend Otis Moss III, (new) pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ.

So, their defense is that Wright's comments were a "social gospel on behalf of oppressed women, children and men in America and around the globe"

I didn't notice any mention of "oppressed" WHITE "women, children and men in America".

Is the pastor unaware that people of ALL races fall on hard times, and that they have to pick themselves up and work to better their OWN situations? Or do they feel that somehow complaining about it is going to help?

That just doesn't sound like a very inspirational message to send to your congregation of church members. Don't people go to church seeking spiritual enlightenment, fulfillment and HOPE? Why speak of despair and oppression?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/...

Did you know that Wright's church is blaming the media for this?
And obama just deserted his friend and mentor of 20 years..hung him out to dry..it's that kind of loyalty that we as Americans do not need in our President. obama also says he did not know wright was teaching the racist and anti-Americanism that is found on the taped sermons. It is a sad day when one attends a church for 20 years and is not aware of the nature of the doctrine being taught in that church.

Reply:I agree with blackjet, the church isn't helping their image by blaming others when everyone KNOWS that the pastor said what he said. The media wouldn't be able to assassinate Wright's character if he didn't say any of the racist and bigoted garbage that he did. I think making that lame excuse only makes their lot look worse by adding a persecution complex to their defense instead of manning up and accepting the consequences, or at least standing by what he said.

How do I deal with a social security disabiliy judge who lies and is bias?

I have been ill for ten years. Have 3 Dr.s who have declared Iam fully disabled. She has made my life hell for 10 yrs.Now she just gave me a partial decision that cuts out all my back pay. This is above disbelief and she is causing me severe depression, anger, pain and hate.I have never felt hate before. She is dishonest and has no respect for ill people.I have lived without income, become sicker and how do I get the money Iam entited to? I think I had a lawyer who did not perform well and this is such a crushing situation. Is there anyone who can tell me how to get justice? And to be treated like all the other people who have received benifits for fibromyalgia which causes chronic pain and fatigue. I thought of the media but I need someone well known for helping people with a passion which comes from the heart. May all have a happy, healthy New Year!

How do I deal with a social security disabiliy judge who lies and is bias?
You have to appeal. There is a lot of info on the Web; basic rules are on the SSA Web site: http://www.socialsecurityhome.com/

Google for the rest: %26lt;social security disability appeal%26gt;
Reply:Simple. If you do not have an attorney, get one that handles SS claims.

You can't fight them on your own. Remember you have the right to appeal any decision and have the amount awarded reviewed.

GET A LAWYER NOW!!!!!!
Reply:Bummer. And what is even more maddening is that 10% of the illegal aliens kids are collecting SSI because they have "mental" problems. Get yourself an attorney.
Reply:Wow that's terrible. I was going to give you a smart Alec answer like put dead frogs with peanut butter on them in his/her mailbox. That's a tuff one. Have you done much research on the Internet? There has to be someone out there to help you. I see ads on tv from this attorney that says he specializes in disability cases. But that's here in CA. I am sure there are those who work with that in every state. All I can do is add you to my prayer list. Wish I could be of more help. All my best hang in there!
Reply:What do you mean by a judge? Social Security will accept any application for disability insurance. Its the law. If they question your disability they will send you to a doctor of their choice and take that evaluation and any others by your doctors into consideraion. You always have the right to appeal. Just remember you will need that energy to get yourself better and back to work. I'm sure this is not what you want to hear. Good luck and I wish you nothing but better health from now on.

I'm wondering if Kidz in Media is legit. I was able to look at the website two days ago and now it's gone?

We were approached and told to bring our kids to a screen test today (March 16, 2008) in Beverly hills from 10 am to 1pm. I don't want to waste my time if this is some type of scam. I'm curious if they ask for social security numbers and such at the screen test.

I'm wondering if Kidz in Media is legit. I was able to look at the website two days ago and now it's gone?
Yes - it is legit. I wen through this same process many months ago with my child and we ended up working with a great entertainment company we met at the screen test and it has been the best expereince. You are not asked to supply your child's social security number at the screen test. It's basically just an opportunity for him or her to be evaluated. Your child will go on camera and do a commercial and you will get to meet people there and ask questions of them. WHen I took my child, my sister also took her two kids. My child was called back - and her kids weren't. One of her kids cried while going on camera - i think she was just too young and scared(now she's asking about it again!)- and her son had a D on his report card. They screen for all sorts of things there and I guess kids won't be considered unless they are good students. In my opinion it is definitely worth going to if you have any interest in having your child partake in acting or entertainment.

Is anyone actually bothered about politicians social lives?

I find it really quite sad that the media are so obsessed with peoples personal lives, I think we all know someone who has gone through a divorce or seperation - who wants it splashed on the front page and who really wants to read about it on the front page?????????

Is anyone actually bothered about politicians social lives?
yes their charter is important, if they are selling drugs on the side. think should know. about marriage or divorce no.

Lying about WMD and starting a war goes to defective character. Getting his weasel greased doesn't.
Reply:Actions not words are what define a person's character. Anybody can spin for the camera. The way they live their life is probably how they will act on your behalf as a representative of the people.
Reply:Not me. I couldn't care less.

I really care about what political action committees they are associated with.

I wish the press would spend more time revealing their stock holdings and who gave them cash.
Reply:Well politics is public office.

Public office unfortunately does go in analogy with public private life. You just cannot get away from it.

Personnaly, I find it a bit more indecent of having live coverage of a war then having a tabloid scandal on some jerk's 5 to 7 pantyhose party.

People all want to read about it in the front page, mainly if it is a politician, as most people have a grunge on some issue against their congressmen or whatsoever.

Thus, humiliation of a person in public office, is somewhat a manner for the common man, who has suffered by the stupid or merciless decisions of government on social or labor issues, to get even.

Simple.
Reply:I do not care what Politicians do in thier personal lives, as long as they leave my personal life alone. I have no say in what they do and who its with, thats their choice. Thats why I live in the united states but for them to say who I can and can't marry or weither I can smoke or not in MY home then they've crossed the line.

What do you think is a social problem for America?

Ex: Media, Weight Problems, Education...

Anything but the obvious. It's for my sociology class. Thanks!

What do you think is a social problem for America?
I think a social problem is that we're convinced that the easiest route is the best route. Watch the movie "Idiocracy" that will give you some great ideas as to what is wrong with America today....we've lost all passion for hard work and honesty.
Reply:i think americans have a problem taking criticism. american went to india, and says he loves it, only hates how they constantly correct his pronunciation of indian words. Hello! my dad came from russia, and to this day he cannot forgive americans for NOT correcting his english, even when he *asked* them to before each conversation! americans can't tell the difference between "i disagree" and "you are an idiot". to me, "i disagree" shows *respect* because it says "i think you are reasonable enough to discuss this issue and understand other points of view and maybe improve your own from new info".

it is still hard for me to keep my mouth shut and just *think* about how wrong other people are "... but.... that's not what einstien meant by relativity ... i took physics ... must. not. point out. person. is wrong. must. appear. to. listen...."

and it is also hard for me to forgive people when i say something stupid -- and the person just sits there thinking about how stupid i am instead of giving me some fact.

i think americans would be as a whole a lot more intelligent and civilized if they can argue with each other all the time like the brittish do - *without* taking argument personally!
Reply:There can be several such as Homelessness, Mental Health issues, Weight problems, and Poverty to name a few...
Reply:I think one of the biggest problems is the lack of comprehensive sex education. Absitinence education has led us to the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in all of the developed countries. This subsequentially can lead to bad parenting, poverty, drug use, child and partner abuse, etc. etc.
Reply:materialism. in order to be successful you have to have a big house, nice car etc.. But people send their babies to day cares at 2 weeks old to have money to buy things they don't need.

i could go on and on.
Reply:HIV/AIDS

murder rates

political issues

etc
Reply:1 mistake that you seem to commit repeatedly, is that your government insists on starting wars w/out the publics seemingly approval. So that after 1-2 yrs into the war, your nation ends up divided on that topic, when you in fact should be united about it. So I`d say, national unity seems to be a problem in the US. Other social problems in the US, would take up way to much space here getting into. Rich vs poor, greed etc.
Reply:Widespread alienation of fathers from their children. Causes necessary expansion of welfare, poverty for most, lack of father is not realistic world view to teach children. This serves to divide our population into weaker noncohesive groups. We are only beginning to see the sad ramnifications of these unnatural social precedents.
Reply:you have to understand that America is a state that is based on contradiction and fueled by hate. the first motion picture made in America is one praising the KKK this should speak volumes about the social problems in america.

Non-EU immigrants cannot apply for social benefits.....?

like housing unless they are asylum seekers, or have officially become a citizen after paying five years of tax (as working professionals), or ten years of overseas tuition fees (which is around 9000 at the moment) as students. There is no other way to become a citizen in GB other than marrying a British passport holder.

Why does the media put the blame on all 'outsiders' to draw on our resources??

I feel gutted by their intentional fact-twisting to please the public!

Non-EU immigrants cannot apply for social benefits.....?
France is bigger and less crowded than our country, so they have the room to take more immigrants. However, their social security system is not as generous, and is being tightened up as I write!!

Immigrants of good heart are a great asset to any country. I lived in China for a while, and their attitude is one of welcome. I was there for a purpose (teaching English) and also the spouse of a Chinese citizen. The attitude of "obey our laws and be a good citizen, and you are welcome to remain in our country as long as you choose... break the laws of our country and you can leave right away" was so very refreshing. No major hoops to jump through, no test of Chinese, no huge fees for the visas, just a sensible attitude and a welcoming smile. So different here, sad to say.

Lazy, good for nothing loafers who scrounge and demand handouts are unwelcome anywhere. However, I would hazard a guess that there are far more British scroungers than immigrant scroungers in the UK. Despite the high profile cases we see in the papers, I would guess the percentage of benefit fraudsters who are immigrants is far, far lower than the UK ones.

Happy to be corrected if someone can show me reliable statistics on this, but there is always a hoo-ha in the press when a foreigner steps out of line, but not when our own citizens do so. Never believe what you read in the papers!!
Reply:So, tell me when this issue started about five years ago and they were coming to our country in bus loads, where do you think the local councils were going to put them, if they did not give them housing?

They had to give housing, local councils were ordered to take in all these people especially in the North as the south of England was over whelmed by immigrants. Don't you remember watching the BBC news and seeing it in the papers?

EDIT* How you suddenly get tons of asylum seekers?? Remember when certain countries entered the EU, and certain airlines and bus companies were offering 16 pound sterling seats one way to the UK. ($32)

I can understand true asylum seekers needing aid and assistance. But, the system is definitely being abused by people who should not be using it.

*Also in reference to this arguement confusion and problems occur, when people put asylum seekers, false asylum seekers; illegals and legals all in the same boat. When in fact you are talking about seperate groups of people.
Reply:I also feel gutted, not only by the media and the pathetic vote-chasing politicians, but by the constant stream of hatred that is found on Y!A on any question about immigration. To be honest, right now I feel really depressed about everything.

However, this is life, people are the same everywhere, there are good people, as well as the misguided.

Yes you are a citizen. But in fact, even the refused are still citizens of the world, with as much human rights as anyone else.
Reply:yes the press has its own idea's. they do write the things but have the part that is the real facts at the bottom most times knowing that most of the readers don't read the whole article. the one the other day on 52% of jobs go to immigrants is a case in this a real good example. most did not notice are care that there are 660,000 unfilled jobs.so it should have read 2, whatever jobs and 18% unfilled. but that would not look good really much better just to mention the jobs that were filled and leave out the ones that have not been filled. and why were these jobs left unfilled no one able to do them. so there is a skills shortage part of the reason that immigrants are needed.
Reply:My family have lived and died for this country for centuries, so why should i have to listen to people who have just popped on a boat and took up residence and think they are British.

You may be a hard worker and pay your tax. But if you take bread out of my mouth, and a roof from over my head you are no friend of mine.

A piece of paper does not make you British. It is history and heritage with a sense of belonging that makes you British.
Reply:Agree with you and also many think that it is easy for a non e.u member to get a visa to come here.Well i know for a fact that it is a difficult process for many.I cannot even get a visa for my husband to come here and the pathetic excuses that they made at the embassy amazed me.When i asked for help on here regarding immigration issues i had much abuse because i had married a man from another country and i was disgusted by most peoples attitudes about immigration.I did have some nice answers but in general i found people just wanted to slate you for it and nothing else.good on you for stating the facts.
Reply:I agree. I just posted a message on another question. I can NOT claim any benefits, I am a LEGAL immigrant here in Britain.

People always feel defensive towards immigrants. I am here to work and pay tax, not claim benefits. In my country, people feel shame of getting benefits.
Reply:You are quite right....it is between the media and the ignorance of the public that causes the rift between non uk and uk.

EU's have righst to the welfare state....as we do if in their country

Visa nationals as you once were come here with no recourse to public funds and have to build up their support in time

Unfortunately for the whole wide world..media influences all
Reply:Yes, you are correct. Finally someone with some sense.

P.S. My husband is an immigrant and has never been entitled to any form of public funds since the 8 years he has been here.

Don't you just love how the papers love to twist everything!
Reply:You are quite right.

Why don't people just say as I do.

I don't want them here full stop.

Globalization in a literal sense is international integration. It can be described as a process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society and functioning together. This process is a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural and political forces. Globalization, as a term, is very often used to refer to economic globalization, that is integration of national economies into the international economy through trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, and spread of technology.

Why don't the conservative media like Ron Paul?

The last days, I've read this question so many times in here, I start wondering myself, but from another point of view.

This man is an anarchic capitalist; someone who wants to give all influence to free enterprises, throw back the social systems to 19th century standard and keep out the government of everything possible. He's that kind of guy, you would expect to hand over the nuclear arsenal controll to private security agencies and put the job as US surpreme court judge for sale on ebay to minorize state's influence.

So, I could think of numerous conservative medial enterprises, that couldn't wish someone, who fits better to their interests. Why don't they cheer him up to the sky, no matter how his results are, and declare, the nation will suffer worse than at 9/11, if he doesn't win, but try to keep silent about him?

What's the reason for that? Is he even to radical for them, or is it the lack of this moralic fig leaf, some Reps like to wear, or what is it?

Why don't the conservative media like Ron Paul?
The man is a total nut job. It is not just the media who don't like him it is the rest of the conservatives and most of the libertarians who don't like him.
Reply:Because in many aspects he is a true Conservative. Something that has waved bye to the Republicans in the last 20 years, and this scares them. They don't want someone up there questioning Republicans on why they are not acting like Republicans. His domestic policies are what a true Conservative is. Limited government and fiscal responsibility.
Reply:Nice try........Silly Ron Paul hater....Your rhetoric was lame at best.
Reply:Why fight other companies for your profits when you can rely on a government supported system to make things easy for you?
Reply:The media does not like him because he threatens to expose and destroy the machinery with which they fool the American people. The corporate bosses are addicted to the system of kickbacks and favors and they are willing to shell out big money to keep it operational.
Reply:Conservatives tend to be more practical.

Did you hear about the handful of people who escaped from a mental hospital a while ago?

Well, they are all Ron Paul fans.
Reply:Because he does not serve their corporate masters.

What would it take for social activism (ie the ONE Campaign) to garner massive public support and action?

There are many activist efforts undertaken in the United States, and yet few are able to gain large momentum and inspire and drive change at a grassroots level up. What can be done to inspire people, in their everyday experiences, to mobilize for action (marches, sending money, lobbying Congress, hosting large scale concerts/fundraisers, appearing in major media) in a way that empowers the people involved and creates lasting changes?

What would it take for social activism (ie the ONE Campaign) to garner massive public support and action?
In my opinion, most people who are not involved in their communities are just not interested. They would rather sit and complain than do anything to change things.

I have been working on political campaigns since I was about 6 years old, and now have my 5 year old daughter starting to do the same.

But if people do not have this example set for them early, as I did, it does not seem to ever take hold of them. People need to care about their communities, and think that grass roots activism is worth their time.

Best of luck with your endeavors!

Most "activists" these day take pains to make Americans angry. They put forward "causes" most Americans find distasteful (or worse), so why would it be a surprise that all of these efforts fail?

It is like these morons who pretend like they are going to get approval for abortion in the Catholic Church. Not going to happen, waste of time....and yet on and on they go, exposing the real truth: Almost all of it is "activism" for "activism's" sake.

Why is it that the media chooses to focus on the meltdowns and faults of celebrities?

Everyday I log onto the internet and I notice that the focus is on Britney Spears' mounting problems and constant poor decision making. If they insist on prying into the private lives of celebrities, why wait outside of rehab for the press conference of yet another broken celebrity? Why not focus on the celebrities that choose to do good things or at least keep themselves sober on a camera? I think this is negatively impacting our society. It has become social norm to be a recovering drug addict. It is now fashionable to be an alcoholic. And it is now necessary to be known as a party girl. Why are we allowing the young and foolish to shape our culture? Why not praise those who are not out there making youth look bad?

Why is it that the media chooses to focus on the meltdowns and faults of celebrities?

The Rockefeller Foundation and the media controlled by the power elite of this world supported the feminist?

movement for three reasons.

1) More people would be working to pay more taxes to support their war machine and state programs.

2) Children would be going to school earlier so they could be indoctrinated earlier.

3) The family would become more fragmented so social programs and the state would get greater power.

I am not saying that there were not positive things that have come from women speaking out against injustices and wanting equinamity, there have been many. I'm saying that the downside of the movement has played into the hand of the power elite. What do you think?

The Rockefeller Foundation and the media controlled by the power elite of this world supported the feminist?
Yes I think that is a very possible idea especially #3. The break down of the family unit has given the elite more of a hand in the demise of the strong family unit. It also played a part in the family budget whereas both parents are forced to be out of the home, paying more taxes and subjecting our nations children to a harder way of life thus creating chaos in a formerly peaceful nation.

What is your opinion on Social Credit as theorised by Major Clifford-Hughes?

Basically he argued in midst of WW1 that representative democracy has been usurped by bankers' infiltration of governments through the existence of central banks, which made governments pay interest to private banks for the use of their own money. He maintained that the central bank's ability to create money out of thin air allowed banking interests to buy up American and British media outlets to sway opinion in favor of the war and the banks (run of course by such ethnics as Rothscild, Rosen, Sachs, Goldman et al "Hebraica Ashkenazim-Khazar-ium"...).

During the First World War, Douglas was a Scottish engineer employed in the analysis of the costs of aircraft production at Farnborough, England. His analysis led him to suspect that current methods of financing of industry made it impossible for people to buy all the goods that industry had placed on the market. The consequence was "poverty in the midst of plenty", unsold production, cut-throat competition, then business stagnation, unemployment, international trade rivalry, and ultimately war. He expressed this initially in an article published in 1919 under the title "The Delusion of Super-production".

What is your opinion on Social Credit as theorised by Major Clifford-Hughes?
It sounds plausible. Add into the situation the Marxist inspired income tax, which wasn't really around back then (at least in the USA where only a very few people paid income taxes). The income tax creates the delusion that government is getting a regular supply of money from citizens, while all it really needs to do is borrow all it needs from the central bank. But without the input of taxes, there is no obvious way to pay off the loans.

The income taxes serve another purpose: it keeps the working class in constant financial desperation. People must continuously work (at the war industries possibly) and never achieve financial independence.

During WWII, income tax withholding was established and it allowed the government to seize worker's income before the worker themselves got it, so they never really missed it. Imagine if we had to pay our tax bill on April 15 with one big check, there would be rebellion.

Thanks for posting this, I looked it up and found flaws in his proposals:

"The proposals made by Douglas were contained in "Three Demands" -

1. For a "National Credit Office" - to calculate on a statistical basis the amount of credit that should be circulating in the economy.

2. For a "Just Price" - a price adjustment mechanism to absorb windfall profits in times of inflation, and return them to people in terms of subsidized, lower prices when the cost of goods on the market exceeds the money available to buy them.

3. For a "National Dividend", to give a basic guaranteed income to all regardless of whether or not they have a job. "

Instead of a government agency that tries to control credit and distribute wealth with welfare and subsidies, the REAL solution would be an honest monetary system based on gold, silver, or whatever the MARKET (ie, free people) determine money should be. The true democratic government would then accept funds with that, and not make policy of what money is, only to enforce laws against fraudulent money.

Police Role descriptions in the Media?

Police Role descriptions in the Media?
"Human rights are not only a promise unfulfilled, they are a promise betrayed" (Irene Khan, AI's Secretary General"

In November 2005, National Public Radio (NPR) reported allegations of abuse of immigration detainees held at three New Jersey jails, including Passaic Jail and Hudson County Correctional Center. They included claims that two prisoners were beaten while handcuffed and that others were bitten by guard dogs. AI had reported on similar abuses in 2003. Most of the alleged victims in the NPR report were deported before investigations could be completed. The Department of Homeland Security said it was reviewing various contract detention facilities but did not confirm which jails were covered in the review.

There were reports of ill-treatment and deaths in custody involving “new generation” tasers: powerful dart-firing electroshock weapons deployed or trialled by more than 5,000 US police and correctional agencies. More than 40 people died after being struck by US police tasers, bringing to more than 70 the total number of such deaths reported since 2001. While coroners generally attributed cause of death to factors such as drug intoxication, in at least five cases they found the taser played a role.

Most of the people who died were unarmed men who did not appear to pose a serious threat when they were electroshocked. Many were subjected to multiple shocks and some to additional force such as pepper spray or dangerous restraint holds, including hogtying (placing someone face-down with their hands and feet bound together from behind).

There were reports that tasers were used by officers routinely to shock people who were mentally disturbed or simply refused to obey commands. Children and the elderly were among those shocked. In most such cases, the officers involved were cleared of wrongdoing. In some departments tasers had become the most common force tool used by officers against a wide range of suspects.

AI reiterated its call on the US authorities to suspend use and transfers of tasers and other stun weapons pending a rigorous, independent inquiry into their use and effects.

When a police officer gets killed in the line of duty, they are generally treated as wimps, careless, and not carefull.

When a police officer kills someone while in the line of duty, they are generally treated as monsters, criminals, scum.

So, you could say that with some elements of the media, cops can't ever get it right, wich is very unfair. There are instances where cops behave badly, even criminally, but that does not mean that the entire police force is guilty of such conduct.

The McCanns (and the media); from it's self-righteousness to eventual gossip-peddling, did it solve anything?

The hostile coverage has - now and then - turned normal Joe/Joanne Public into 'experienced' social observers on this very site..and of course, we are all psychologists now, with our gawping efforts of analytical scherzos to show we're the dogs' cojones. The 'water cooler' conversations have turned into the most depressing soap opera episodes, with eventual innaccurate slurs not stopping the tabloids from jumping onto another sensational round, usually featuring a certain Mr. Murat, who probably realises how scurriless and intemperate his country of origin has now become.

Madeleine is still missing...looks like our concern (genuine and otherwise), and all has got nowhere. And damn...the last 230 days has told us more about ourselves, rather than the main - and heartbroken - players in this morbid episode.

The McCanns (and the media); from it's self-righteousness to eventual gossip-peddling, did it solve anything?
Not really. but it also created a weird self-righteousness among the more louder on here. As much as you blame the media, it must be also said that it showed the ignorance of people who you think would have known better. people who would be the first to scream that they are independent and not made to run with the herd. I've noticed how quiet people on the site are when questions like this come up, well, it's better than abuse, which would be the other choice.

But would the papers be running the country if they didn't give the majority what they wanted to hear? In effect, if we pay 60 pence for a prolitariat sleaze-fest tabloid, then we give the impression that we deserve - conditioned conformists of accepted morality, turning to page 3 when it all gets too much to genuinely think about a missing child.

I need help in social situations.?

I over analyze things too much, say stupid things, and have like a 2nd conscious always thinking and over analzying everything. I can't be 'me', because I am always repeating what I hear or see on movies/media, or quotes from someone else. I just want to be normal.

I need help in social situations.?
Keep in mind you are normal. To be what to you want to be is to relax...when you relax you can easily talk and comment what you think. Trsust yourself. Even if your opinion its not like the others, remember that's why you are so unique.

Good luck.
Reply:You don't say how old you are, but you sound like somebody going through the fairly normal problems of adolescence. But if it has got to the stage where it's truly messing up your life, you need to get some professional help. You will not find that in Yahoo Answers, but I certainly hope that others will give you the same advice I just did, to help convince you that this is what you need to do.
Reply:If you're a teenager, you just need to learn to calm down a little and get comfortable with yourself. If you're grown up and still have this problem, you may need medication. Either way, counseling will help.

Constant Debating in the media/society?

I'm sure it's been like this forever, but I've noticed that among my friends and pretty much everyone I know, our friendship are now based of pointless back-and-forths and debates about pretty meanlingless topics. Alot of times I can tell that people make a concious effort to contradict what those around them say just for the sake of doing it..... In my eyes it's kinda devaluing the idea of a friendship

Also this is becoming HUGE on television with political /social debates now almost becoming sporting events. Does this seem petty to you? why do you think it's happening?

Constant Debating in the media/society?
I think that it is VERY petty...

I have seen so many people that "Argue" the same topics over and over and over again but not because they are trying to make a difference...

They are just preaching to the choir.

People of one mind tend to cluster to each other and when they cluster they start repeating the same things over and over again in order to "Verify" that they are "Right" because their friends agree with them...

If you get a whole room full of Liberals you will eventually start chanting about how Bush is a Nazi...

If you get a room full of Bible Thumping Conservatives together it will break in to an anti-gay rally...

If you get blacks together (and Jessie Shows up) you will end up with an "I hate whitey" Chant that ends with a prayer...

Goths will start talking smack about religion and cheerleaders…

It is ALL very predictable…

We gather with people like us so that we can have the self-esteem boost of feeling like we truly “Belong”.

It is a Herding Instinct… We follow the group…

It is VERY hard for us to think for ourselves when it is so much easier to just follow the heard.

Thinking for yourself makes the average person’s head hurt…
Reply:Cause it's fun to argue.

Imagine how boring everything would be if we all agreed on everything. TV takes it to the next level, and in many cases in bad taste. Some of my best friends have very different opinions on important topics, that's what keeps the relationship fresh. If you didn't have stuff to argue about, what would you talk about?

What has influenced corporate social responsibility?
its almost a given that they have to these days, they dont want to be seen in a negative light. However, they also practice strategic philanthropy - give money as long as everyone knows they did it, kinda like those mattel playgrounds for kids, they give to the needy but put their name all over it, get more revenue for doing so. its become profitable, which benefits all.

Why does the "liberal media" use the word radical Islam instead of fundamentalist Islam?

Is the word fundamentalist too big for them?

I don't know about you, but when I hear the word radical I think secular, probably godless, egalitarian, socially liberal, left-wing environmentalist/animal rights activist.

Can a group who stones gays and feminists, wants women covered up from head to toe, believes in prayer in the schools, religion in the government, and thinks western popular culture is leading to social decay, be described as radical when the word fundamentalist seems so much more appropriate?

Why does the "liberal media" use the word radical Islam instead of fundamentalist Islam?
No, the word fundamentalist has become too closely associated with Bush. We had to come up with a different term.
Reply:You have a misconception of the word "radical." Radical can apply to many left-wing individuals and causes, but the Left doesn't have the monopoly on the word. Islamists are fundamentalists in some sense and they're also radical. Many of the leaders are highly educated and they employ the use of new technologies and techniques. They're not all living in caves, which is why they pose as much of a threat as they do. They also don't advocate a complete return, although like all totalitarian movements they romanticize a period in the past, a golden period of Islam, that they believe they should recreate in the modern world. So, that's why they get the label of 'radical' and I don't think it's a wholly inappropriate one.
Reply:why dont u worry about u and urs and stop worrying about what they call the Muslims on TV. all Muslims are not crazy killers. not all Muslim cover themselves!!! look at Jordan and Egypt, great examples of keeping there traditions but being modern. leave them alone. sure some of them are nuts but there alot of people that are nuts.
Reply:that's because you are an ignorant. don't blame the "liberal" media for your ignorance. first off using the word "fundamentalists" would be wrong and misleading because the terrorists even though they may be fundamentalists in some way or another, their terror tactics have nothing to do with the fundamentals of their religion. their actions are based on personal gain and satisfaction of their ego.
Reply:Because the two are not interchangeable. As another poster pointed out to me.

Fundamentalist means following the literal dogma.

Radical means not being of the mainstream.

If the mainstream follows the literal dogma, then someone can be radical by acting in a more rational and enlightened way.

In the case of Islam, most (90+%) follow a derivation that does not demand literal adherence to every phrase. The same was most Christians don't follow literal adherence to every command in the new testament.

Because the mainstream (majority) does not follow the doctrine literally, it is "radical" (not mainstream) to do so.

Therefore, when speaking of terrorist being radical or fundamentalist, both terms are appropriate.
Reply:bush is one of the guys who started using the word "radical" to describe our islamic enemies.

I hear the guys and gals on fox news use "radical" also.
Reply:Saying "radical" instead of "fundamentalist" keeps the Christians from getting upset because the Christian right is just as "fundamentalist" as any "radical" islamist. Saying "radical" is a clever way of distancing the craziness of Christian theology from the equally crazy Islam theology. Religious Moderates all tacitly support the so-called "radicals" by supporting the authenticity of the religion's scriptures. It was an important step to rename the level of belief that leads to violence so we wouldn't confuse the desire for righteous Christian butchery with evil Satanic slaughter.
Reply:They are radical because they think their way is the only way and no one else matters. Thats what we call it when muslims think that, when christians think that we call them Mr. President.
Reply:How do you think secular when the next word is the name of a religion? And fundamentalism doesn't imply any sort of violent behavior (After all, we have a lot of fundamentalist Christians here), whereas radical does. So I think you're probably the only one with this problem.

Actually, given your list of the group's beliefs, I think maybe you are talking about fundamentalist Christians, so maybe you're right.
Reply:Two reasons -

Fundamentalism isn't really the right word theologically. A fundamentalist believes in literal translations of religious texts, but that doesn't necessarily lead all fundamentalists to be radical or violent.

The word "radical" means out there - in any direction. You can be a radical liberal, a radical conservative, a radical Muslim, a radical Christian. It's like "rabid" or "hard-core."
Reply:For the same reason one can use radical Christian for fundamental Christian. There is actually a faction of fundamentalism that gets very radical in both religions. They get carried away and go too far with a focus on specific parts of their respective religions rather than considering the religion in general.
Reply:Radical and fundamentalist are not the same. Radicalism is characterized by a plan to overturn existing order, while fundamentalism wishes to return to the basics of a particular belief or way of life.

The "radical Islam" that makes the news is so called because they want to overthrow what they percieve to be corrupt, western influenced governments.

They are also fundameltalist, in that they want to return to the basics of Islam (or their version of it) in the absence of corrupt government, but it is their radicalism that drives their newsworthy actions.

"Radical Islam" is therefore more accurate.

Accuracy in communication, particularly in the media is important, as we can all be sure that we're undestanding the same thing the same way. This is why people use dictionaries (such as you should consult) to ensure that they are understood clearly.

So why is it media protects the BLACKS?

i posted on a thread today and it was removed when i said i think a black president would lead to a social break down and a boom in the welfare system. since we all know the majority of races mooching off the system are black its a sad place that a crybaby has to get my thread taken down to protect the truth of what race is killin this nation

So why is it media protects the BLACKS?
They can't handle the truth.

And I believe that the race or better yet lazy mental of people (not a race) is what is killing society, they all think that someone owes them something . The past is done with , now we should move on.

And actually, I'm not on welfare, and I have a Master's....do you even have a GED or did you drop out in kindergarten?

Reply:to protect crybaby white honkeys like you.
Reply:The media isn't protecting African-Americans, Yahoo is just protecting its site from people who spread messages of race and hate, such as yourself.

And I'm not here to make a racist statement in return, but here's some factual evidence against your claims. Whites actually collect the greatest amount of public aid dollars aka welfare, not African-Americans. Look up the facts....
Reply:I can see why you were removed. For you information, only 9% of those receiving social programs are black (82% are white); although they account for 10% of the population. Get your facts straight first and then you will appear more intelligent.
Reply:Surely not. I hope not. I dont think Obama would allow that to happen. he even knows that welfare is killing the black community.
Reply:There are plenty of white trash freeloaders too. As a matter of fact, more welfare money goes to white people than any other group. Black people may have a higher percentage on welfare, but the total amount of money paid to them is still less.

Having a black president, may actually have a positive effect on the community, by showing them that you don't have to be a thug, athlete, or entertainer to be successful and get respect. It would give some street cred to being smart and eloquent, which of course, has been true all along.
Reply:hopefully a black president will result in the deportation of people like you
Reply:Wow...so how's the KKK doing these days?

You KKK guys still educate your kids with comic books?
Reply:Why did you contradict yourself? Is it the medias fault that you were censored or one random crybaby's? If you want to vent your anti black sentiment, try stormfront.org or something like that.

Who built America? Black people did. Blacks gave birth to the nation, you are crazy to think that we are the ones killing it! Most blacks today are educated, in college, have good jobs. There are a minority who are doing otherwise. Please open your eyes.
Reply:You live under a rock, don't you?

What impact does the media have on pubic opinion and policy?

What impact does the media have on pubic opinion and policy?
The issues politicians talk about dont come from the public concerns. They are created by the media. Its best not to watch the news. They create storys out of thin air and get people emotional about them.I would rate the media as one of the U.S. biggest problems.

Any tips on overcoming social anxiety?

It's pretty extreme. I'm being home schooled now because I can't handle being around a lot of other people; but next year I'll be going to high school and it will possibly be a high school for the arts and media, which means I have to audition and I probably can't be so closed in all the time. We can't afford a psychologist right now and I think it would be better in the meantime to do something for myself. Anything useful you know? Not just for the audition, I'm not even sure if I'll go there..I mean more like getting through everyday life.

Any tips on overcoming social anxiety?
Force yourself to be in public as much as possible, even if it's just sitting in a corner of a restaurant or park. The more you are around people, the more comfortable you will be.
Reply:dang...you're too young for any of my suggestions...try deep breathing....more exercise...healthy meals...when you get older you will find alcohol and xanax help immeasureably!!

Compared to ALL Ameican media, is C-SPAN the fasted way to get the unbiased truth?

Real politics in action , in real time. It's hard at first, but once you get to see the grit and grind that go into these bills it makes it clear why the immigration lacked teeth, why it's so very important to either stay or leave Iraq, and if or why we need social security reform. It's the only place I've found unbiased reporting watching American politics in real time.

Compared to ALL Ameican media, is C-SPAN the fasted way to get the unbiased truth?
Yes, I always have c-span on:

I watch or listen to the senate or house in session all day long sometimes into the night. There is no reporters, and the camera is only in two spots. I get so very angry because the democrats forgot how to reason, debate and compromise. It is always their way or no way. You learn how hypocritical many congressmen or senators are real fast;

After reading a few articles reporting how Patty Murray was for veterans, I thought she was the answer to our prayers. Then I watched her at 2:55pm on the 13th on C-span saying our veterans really need the funding passed but tried to justify all the other shi* the dems had attached to it. This is hypocrisy and political blackmail at its worst.
Reply:Same lies, different channel
Reply:It is difficult to sit and watch the whole thing on C-Span sometimes but you are correct. It is interesting to see what bits and pieces of quotes the majority of media "allow" us to hear while reporting but actually seeing the full statement can put a completely different perspective on it.
Reply:No. C-SPAN aired the Talkers magazine convention but they didn't air the "freedom of speech award" segment because the recipient was Michael Savage. C-SPAN is absolutely biased.

Could you ever try social nudity? ie nudism?

Some folks are too afraid of what they look like to try it. The media and Hollywood tends to make us think we ought to have the perfect bodies. Truth is, we are who we are. In a situation where others would like to be nude in a non-sexual context, what would you decide and why?

Could you ever try social nudity? ie nudism?
Yes, I would try it with a group of like-minded people.
Reply:I am a very modest person, and I can't imagine going out in public wearing a bathing suit, let alone totally nude! But on the other hand, I do not at all look down on those tribal societies where partial or even complete nudity is normal. And I do not look down on ascetics of India who choose nudity as a part of their religious life. They choose to own as little as possible, including no clothes! I think the cultural context is very important to consider in "judging" the morality of nudity.

So I suppose if I were suddenly living among tribals for some reason, and it were to somehow offend them that I DO wear clothes, I might have to think about it. But if they were not offended, I would wear clothes even then.

When I don't wear clothes, I just feel naked!!!!!!!!! hahaha.
Reply:I agree that is why the USA is afraid of nudity. I believe We have the most rape and sexuality assault against women and I think that is because were afraid of nudity
Reply:Yes, I have. It's American culture that has made people think nudity is akin to sexuality.I by no means have a perfect body, but it's good enough for me.And no one has run screaming, yet! :)
Reply:i dont know, maybe, i believe god made the human form in his own image, and it was the forbidden fruit that caused shame in nudity, i guess it would come to the situation to really know
Reply:I have tried it and have come to the conclusion that it's an experience that will either cure your self-esteem or kill it. Me? I loved it. It was hard taking off the robe for the first time, but it's actually very freeing. Nudity is not for everyone, even though we're all born naked.

As for the societal pressure to "fit in", that's a thing each person has to deal with on an individual basis.

You have to like yourself first. I'm marvelous.

Is the liberal news media slanting its reporting of the immigration debate?

Here’s how James Gerstenzang of the Los Angeles Times spins the story on the immigration bill. On page one of the article, beginning in paragraph 2, he recounts a story of Senator Menendez saying it would cost $250 billion to deport all the illegals now here when he is confronted by “a guy” who says illegals should be deported (in accordance with existing law). The article quotes the senator as saying it would cost $250 billion to deport the illegals already here. To this, the “guy” is quoted as saying “I don’t care,” and that sums up the whole argument for deporting illegals as far as this Los Angeles Times article goes.

Isn’t this how good propaganda works, not through outright lies, but by simply framing the argument in terms that will lead the audience to the desired conclusion? Now what if the senator had been confronted by a “guy” who had asked which is cheaper, spending $250 billion to deport illegals or spending $2.5 trillion to support them with social services if you don’t deport them? Would that question and response have found its way to page one?

IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL MUST NOT PASS INTO LAW!!!

Keep the pressure on.....WRITE / CALL

+THINK ABOUT THIS AND ASK YOUR REPS ABOUT IT???

By the numbers if this bill passes:

12 million illegals will get amnesty AND so will extended family members ...sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles etc. in Mexico to come here.

Say there are only 5 in the extended family of each illegal here now [WE KNOW THERE ARE MANY MORE THAN 5] .... that totals to 60 million more who can come here, granted amnesty and ultimate citizenship.

NO ONE IS ANSWERING THIS QUESTION:

How will they enforce this law???

Reply:It'll cost us 10X that amount if they are allowed to stay.

My neighborhood has become home to a whole nest of them. No wonder, being there is a landscaper, contractor, mover and car wash in the are to employ them.

My neighborhood used to be a nice blue collar community.... now it's a eyesore full of garbage, unkempt property, run down houses, cars all over, rowdiness, fights, drugs, and music blaring at all hours. The police remove 2, 10 come back.

We've caught them several times breaking into our garage. We keep the windows closed and locked, even when we are home, and I don't dare go out alone at night.

No need to tell me they need to be deported, and NOW!!!

EDIT:

km, that page is now a dead link. I guess someone had the article pulled!

What is the Media trying to achieve by always telling us how bad the housing market is all day long?

It`s as though they`re on a government backed scam, just like Global warming, and social drinkin etc..

What is the Media trying to achieve by always telling us how bad the housing market is all day long?
this constant harping on about house prices is a self fulfilling prophesy

people want to pay less so they offer less and estate agents encourage people to accept less

and voila! house prices fall
Reply:The scam is obvious - they are selling houses long past their sell-by date.

The design and materials they always use are impractical for modern life-styles and are not sufficiently weather-proof, but there's been money to be made, so hush-hush, keep the same old lies going...

The burden/s caused by using heavy-weight materials affects everyone - but because these old styles are in short supply (in a monopoly situation i.e. there's no competition),

we have to pay and fight each other

cos we need a roof, right?

The government know the housing market is rigged, so does the media - they're hoping you don't work that one out, cos the miseries, the shortage keeps their money flowing.

There is a way out. That is to demand a new-style - something modern, practical, truly low-cost, and yeh, green too.
Reply:Shanks, it would appear that you are beginning to see the light. Follow this line of thought with some serious research, and possibly you might come to the same conclusion as I. One day you may even choose to remove the (mass) media from your life altogether. The news is all bad and there's nothing you can do about any of it; so why watch it? Why read it? There is a joy filled land of discovery and hope just over the horizon waiting for you, all you have to do is remove the (mass) media from your life. I promise you, a month without the TV or papers and you'll feel 1000 times better than you do now.
Reply:yeah, i hate the fact the talk about it so much to. that's why i hate watching the news on TV. i rather read the head lines and choose what i want to hear.

i really want a house rate now but like everyone should just sit tight and see what going to happen. maybe nothing but it is best to be safe then sorry.

personally something is happening and its big. when big company's can not get there loan renewed, they are cutting back on spending, closing hundreds of stores and firing thousands you know there is something going on.

the housing market was way to high and people can not afford it. what cost 200,000 just 3 years ago is 600,000 now that's 3x more and were my family lives in Vancouver its 800,000 for a basic 4 bedroom house. that's crazy and it needs to change so everything is going to hit, and hit hard.

people have to remember for the future not to jump into buying things they can not afford.

in the end, i think its for the better but i truly feel sorry for the people that it hits the most.

like my father aways told me"what doesn't kill you makes you stonger"
Reply:Calm down. The Media is trying to achieve audience share by telling people what they think they want to hear and how they want to hear it.This is not China or N.Korea.The various news channels do not take their headlines from No.10.Enough of the conspiracy theories already. If you want to get a balanced view of current happenings newspaper take a chance on one of the broadsheets.

Reply:It makes a change from berating the McCanns
Reply:The media know how to cheer us up, don't they?
Reply:they want to remind us to pay our mortgage.
Reply:They are telling you that the housing bubble burst (finally) People were paying a quarter-million for condos, and a half- million for McMansions in developments where you can't throw a dead cat out of the window without hitting the side of your neighbor's house. These properties did not (and certainly do not now) have this actual value This was inflation based on speculation, just like the Dutch Tulip craze and the Dot-Com bubble.

To make matters worse, a number of brokers selling the mortgages for these hyper-inflated properties had no stake in the loans they were making, and when these loans were rolled into very complex bond-like instruments, a lot of people bought into very high-risk loans (THINKING THEY WERE SAFE INVESTMENTS) and are now losing their shirts. This collapsing housing bubble is now taking down Wall Street investment firms which survived the depression. and is sending ripples around the world. All of this at a time when the U.S. dollar is VERY weak.

We have not had a gold-backed dollar since the depression. We print more money, and we (the U.S.) sell BONDS on the international market to cover the DEBT we create. The collapsing housing bubble and the sub-prime mortgage debacle are only serving to further weaken the U.S. dollar and the U.S. as time goes on, (by spreading bad U.S. paper around the world) Currently, "Red" China holds 1.7 Trillion Dollars of U.S. debt that backs the U.S. Dollar. If they ever decide to sell those markers off cheep, they could decimate the U.S. Economy over night, and win ANY war with the U.S. without firing a shot (Like when they decide to walk into Tawian).

All of this is happening as oil (currently based in U.S. dollars) is now past $100 dollars US/barrel. The fact that oil is priced in U.S. Dollars has always lent great strength to the U.S. Dollar. Since the Dollar is now very weak (because of the collapsing housing bubble and the sub-prime mortgage debacle) many oil producing countries (a number of which happen to be predominately Muslim) are now calling for oil to be priced in Euros (One of the last things that Saddam Hussein was offically asking for, just before the U.S. invaded IRAQ), a move which would completely destroy the now petro-based U.S. Dollar (The Coup De Gras, if you will)

The bad housing market is only the tip of the iceburg, and the media is not doing half of its job, if people like you have not got the message that we (all of us here in the U.S.) ARE IN DEEP DOO-DOO. It may well be a government backed scam, but my concern is exactly which government are we talking about. As only one possibility (out of many), please remember that "Red" China thinks in terms of decades and centuries, and not in terms of 4 and 8 years! Also, please remember that "Red" China's leash comes off once the current Olympics are over!

Ach du lieber Augustin U.S. goose is cooked !!!! Is what the media is trying to tell you! Let's get out of the oven, and deal with the fires we have here at home!

And, by the way, I am an old Hawk and not a bleeing heart liberal. I firmly beleive that we should be in foreign lands (like on the boarder of Afghanistan and Pakistan) killing them what needs killing. (Exactly what did happen to the search for Osama Bin Laden ?) But I don't think that we should be wasting money (Half-Trillion so far) occupying a "country" (created by the Brits in the wake of WW1) that wants to consume itself. I think that for a Half-Trillion, we could have gotten a lot more bang for the buck, even if we had to contract out and ask the Mossad (or others of their professional expertise) to do the "wet-work" for us, cutting the head off of the snakes. I firmly beleive that the only thing we are currently doing in Iraq is cutting the feet off of centipeds, and further destabilizing the region!

The bottom line to all of this is that the current Bush adminstration took the U.S. into Iraq to assure 50 years of cheep Iraq oil for the U.S. (Not going to happen) and supporting the strength of the U.S. dollar by keeping a major oil producing country from asking for payment in Euros (only forstalled the inevitable). As a result of these actions, the Dollar is tilting on the edge of collapse, oil is passing $110 dollars US/barrel, and the U.S. is out a Half-Trillion it could have better used to repair strategic infrastructure - like leaking 70 year-old water mains (across the U.S. most of them are at least this old, if not older), 50 year old Interstate bridges on the verge of collapse, and the re-building of New Orleans (a strategically indespensiable city in an impossible location).

The Media is not telling you half the story. That's the Scam! Wake-up! Start drinking later in the day, and read a bit first.

And since when is social drinking a government backed scam? Where I was born and raised (New Orleans, Louisiana, in Southeast Louisiana) our social drinking (2 - 3 drinks/day - mainly with meals and NOT a whole lot more - the point IS MODERATION you sot) is considered alcoholism by the established medical community, but it does seem to prolong life for the French and Mediterranean peoples, as it does for us (it's the fried food you have to watch out for!).
