Why the media encourages division and stereotypes?

i know its very broad.....but why do they do it amongst, gender, sexuality, race, social status, income, intelligence, ...........down to the specific spectrums of a persons personality making that trait the definition of who THAT person is.

Why the media encourages division and stereotypes?
Because that's how people think. Plus it's great for the fat-cat media bosses' pockets.
Reply:the media thrives on sensationalism. They want to stir up the general population and provoke it to action, to have more stuff to show us and tell us...They want to compete with soap operas and reality tv. They want to excite us to influence us. They want to keep us in a state of frenzy to get what they want from us. They want to influence who we vote for, for president for example. They want us to buy what they are selling from shoes to food to soap to bathe with. They want to cause a panic about gas prices and natural disasters and wars, to keep us afraid of our own shadows to influence what we do and how much we spend and our lives in general. It's the truth. They get paid well for it, so they continue it.
Reply:Becuase peace and contentment has a negative profit margin.
