What are you thought, interesting article, some young religious people placing social issues over sexuality?

Is this the beginning of a change in America's religious discourse against Gay's? Glodbal media is influancing some young relgious people by wanting them to unite people instead of segregating them. I see the beginning of something beautiful, a America where the religious spend less time opposing equal rights for gay people and spending more time focusing on social justice for all people. What are your thoughts? Kudos to the new wave of young religious people.

I posted this in the LGBT section as well, just wanted thoughts from the religious section as well. Thanks.

It would be nice if we could teach these young people to think for themselves rather than following the daft teachings of religious dogma, but it's a start.

Let's face it, social responsibility is much closer to the message that Jesus preached that all this anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-women stuff we get from the right wing nut cases.
Reply:At the same time we, as a community, need to understand that if is up to us to continue to make alliances with GLBT friendly people. We need to show that not only are we not the sex perverts the religious right make us out to be but that we are contributing members of society.

For the youth mentioned in the article, we are seeing the beginning of a new generation recognizing the hateful message being preached by their elders ministers and are searching for conscience based answers. We should not alienate them and should help them see that indeed we are part of the greater society in which we live.
Reply:I have emphasised that I would like to have forum with the sexy trends. We should be understand that people is an individual, please give them spacing and don't leave alone.

They are normal people as you and me, it has the sexy trends are different. In respecting to them, they can recognize by the society quickly.
Reply:I think it's great...and the churches want to know what's happening to their youth...THEY are happening to their youth. The youth listens to all of the platitudes...watches to see those very churches go against their own teachings...and drop out...now starting a movement like Jesus, the Christ, wanted all along...since the churches are so much like the big money making corporations wanting to tell OUR government what to to...how about all of the churches start paying TAXES...maybe that'll shut'em up...good old hypocritical churches...
Reply:I think this is a beautiful thing!

Thanks for sharing and Brightest Blessings!

Reply:1. Homosexual marriage should be legal. I can respect a religion for disagreeing with homosexual marriage, but religious beliefs have no place in politics. This is the downright truth, and should have no place for religious opinion.

Now to my own opinion

2. I am convince that 90% of homosexuals were born that way (However, I do know that there are people who "swing" into it just for the thrill). So, if people are born homosexual, then it is just like being blonde, or black. It cannot be a sin.

3. So the Church says it is NOT a sin, but only having sex is a sin. So it calls homosexuals to be celibate. Now, priests in the Church are celibate, but they CHOOSE to be. Someone should not be born a healthy human being and be forced to be celibate their entire life.

4. So I promote monogamous homosexual unions. We can be monogamous, so can they. They can have the Church's blessing, and live a Christian life the same as a heterosexual couple would.

5. If you want to call it "marriage", go ahead. It's the same thing.
Reply:Anyone who buys into the "they were born into it" bunk is terribly misinformed when it comes to sexual developement. Ultimately we do choose to act out sexually on behalf of our preferences. It is not the same as race. People of this opinion are terribly decieved.

People have been making Gay rights one of the bigger issues for a long time. Marriage was a religious institution long before it became a politcal one. If people want to be practicing gays, why do they feel they must be married to do so? So, they can have equal rights. They want to be treated as normal people and want their practices to be considered normal by the rest of society. I for one love the people(gays), but hate what they do. To call something good and normal which is perverse would be a lie. Another issue would be gays trying to twist the Bible around so that it compliments their practices. May it never be! Homosexuality is condemned in the Bible and Christians need to continue to stand on this conviction until Christ comes back. This doesn't mean we condemn the person. God will meet anyone, anywhere; but for sin to be called "good" is going against the grain of God's character and it will never be blessed.
