Media such as films, the news, television drama's or documentaries, newspapers, magazines etc.


Crimes such as drug use, theft/ shoplifting, assualt, criminal damage etc. (Less serious crimes)


Do you think there is a link, especially to films involving crime?

Well, take into account social learning theory. Bandura set up and experiment with a bobo doll and made children watch a person beat the living crap out of a doll, then put the doll in front of them and watch what happened. The children beat the crap out of the doll too.


Media has a massive influence on todays culture. Aggression etc i feel is in nature not nurture, that is we learn our ways, we are not brought up to be that way. Jamie Bulger, killed at a young age by two youths replicating similar actions they had seen in child's play. A great number of attacks went up after the game "Manhunt" was released (now banned)_


Age doesn't really matter, but the younger you are, the more prone you are to believe what you watch. A behavioural view would see actions aspirational, so the person looks upto the person on TV killing someone (for instance). It could also come from postive reinforcement, as the attacker or offender maybe getting cheered onto do something, hence getting happiness from this.


There isn't just one reason why, but a simple answer for this would be YES. The media has a heavy influence on aggressivness in cultre. A more borad view, media has an influence on peoples everyday life.
Reply:all the thing you think are fair. And it absolutely applies to a specific generation and group or even gender. media surely takes part in crimes' compounding and also in stuggel to decrease it. As it also gives many ways to entertainment and knowledge and awareness. And I must say that every thing I learned from any form of media was done in a fast and short period. even I din't know how they use drugs but I saw pics and videos of how its done and surely I won't prefer doing that.
