Why is there so many empty patriotic mesages being reproduced in our media and being portrayed as news items?

Headlines like "aussied urged to show anzac spirit" are empty and meaningless news articles, why are these being pushed onto us by news services. The tools of war are patriotism, properganda and paranoya without these no one would fear enough to fight. Are we being geared up for a war, and against who and by who? Why is the government spending so much on defence when social services are being stripped, who do we need to defend ourselves from and are submarines more important than hospitals. If the lessons of anzac is so importantt to remember, the how have we let ourselves become the Nazi's.

Last I checked, Australia was still holding free national elections on a regular basis. If you don't like your government - VOTE THEM OUT!





Only someone such as yourself, raised in a nation of freedom, would be idiotic enough to claim that "the tools of war are patriotism, propaganda and paranoia." (I fixed your spelling - you can thank me later).





The extent to which people will push a just cause varies - and will even extend to war if they feel it's necessary.





You shuld not be so naiive to think that NOTHING is worth dying for. If your ancestors thought that, we would still be living under a monarchy.





As for the rest of your rant, a) social services ought to be a help - not a living; b) Submarines are prohibitively expensive - no corpoartion can afford them: this is why governments build them, and corporations can afford to build hospitals.





Last I checked, the Australians had not rounded up 10 million of its minority citizens and slaughtered them in a national policy of genocide. Say what you will about Aboriginal policies - they weren't ever as bad as what the Jews endured under Hitler.
Reply:i think it's because a lot of the government got money from large coorporations that want us to go have wars for beneficial (to THEM) reasons ***COUGH!!! -.oil.- COUGH!!!*** also, the government (or perhaps the coorporations) own the news shows these days, so they put up a bunch of crap propaganda in the hopes of distracting stupid people from the real issues at hand... FINALLY, though, more people are starting to see what an ***... _________________ some peopleses............ have been. i think the reason some peopleses... have been able to get away with so much crap is because many people are struggling as it is to take care of themselves and their familys and are too tired and lacking in time to pay attention. which sucks, and which... some peopleses are making even harder. sooo yeah...
