World War II questions?

i have to interview my grandma about world war II. the problem is i cant think of any good questions i should ask her. the questions can be on anything from social changes, political, media affects, etc. i could really use some suggestions. thanks so much! any answer will be appreciated.

World War II questions?
1. How old were you during WWII?

2. What do you remember about it? (Then maybe she will do so much talking the ?'s will be easy)

3. Do you remember rationing?

4. Do you have anything from that era that I could bring to class (I see extra credit here)

5. How did you feel when you heard FDR's Pearl Harbor speech?

6. How did you feel when you heard that the war in europe was over? The war in the east?

7. Anything else you'd like to tell me?

Hope it goes well. You'll get to know your Grandma better and maybe get an "A!"
Reply:Here is what I asked my grandmother:

1. How old were you when the war started?

2. What was family life like during the war?

3. Which family members served in the war?

4. What did they do in the service?

5. Did you know anyone who was killed?

6. What did you do to help the war effort?

7. Is there anything you would like to tell me about the war?

8. Where were you when you heard that Pearl Harbor had been bombed?

Good luck!
Reply:If your grandma is old enough to actually remember those days, why not try to make it a personal impact type of paper? How did the events change her life, make her feel, induce what fears if any, witnessing the level of patriotism, that sort of thing.
Reply:How much could the war be felt away from the battlefield? For example, nowadays the war in Irak seems to be in another world, it's like it never even happened.

Also: What was the media's coverage of the war?

How much did things change after the fighting began?

It's a chance to find out more about the war from a personal point of view, appart from the cold/objective one you get in the text books
Reply:Why is it that in WWII, the country was being the troops with scrap metal drives and saving cooking fats and buying war bonds, but now, who gives a flamer?

Was she really afraid of a japanese invasion of the US?
Reply:How did you feel about the attack on Pearl Harbor?

Did you have any japanese friends?

How did your family react to WW2?

And you know stuff like that........
Reply:Ask her what she read in the news papers about the invasion of the countries of France,Holland,Belgium,Poland, ect.Ask to hear stories of the relatives that may have fought.Every person likes to talk about things where they were involved
