Can you be happy with an eating disorder?

I have an eating disorder, but I find myself happier when I am thinner.

Every website, health class, news media, etc. says that your social-ness crumbles while you have an eating disorder.

Can you be happy with an eating disorder?
I have clients who thought that as well for a while, then their health went down the drain and they are trying to find happiness.

Some of my clients have bags connected to their stomach to help them "eat" (liquid is their new diet to stay alive). Some of these same clients have a bag connected to their intestine to "poop". These bags remain their 24/7. The are on medication (shots or liquids poured into their bag) to keep their heart beating. A couple of them are on dialysis.

Everyone of them looks at least 30-40 years older than they truly are. Some of the women clients I have have hair on their face (because the body is trying to keep warm). All of them have diminished capability in their brains. You need fat for your brain to work.

They thought that being thin made them happy. Now, they are just trying to stay alive...I'm working with a couple that want to die because they look about 60 and they are in their early 20's.

Not one of them have friends to help them through this. I'm now their "friend" because I'm the one who listens to how miserable they are and how they wished they never started this trip.

That is the road you are going down. Please seek help now.
Reply:yeah..you take mood swings as you eat less and less and push your friends away...subconsciously, you dont notice you do it...

your mind becomes obseessed with excercise and diet... so youi chose that over your friends,...

i'm anorexic, i know
Reply:no. you're never really happy with an eating disorder. you may feel a fleeting sense of joy when you see the number on the scale go down--but then you think "just a little more...just a little bit further...." and before you know it you're miserable and spiraling out of control.

and yes, your social life DOES crumble. now either you don't really have an eating disorder, or you're just extremely selfish and don't give a sh*t about your family and friends and starve yourself right in front of them.
Reply:I'd say no. If you were truly happy you wouldn't have an eating disorder in the first place.
Reply:i have one too. i guess i'm ok but i'm depressed
