Would a world without news be a better world?

I find medias and particularly newspapers very onsided when they cover news and consequently are depicting a false picture of the country we live thus brainwashing and creating social rifts and tensions.

Aren't medias the roots a lot of our society's problems?

Would a world without news be a better world?

Ps: english is not my first langage so be kind...

Would a world without news be a better world?
Since there is no real answer to your question, I will offer my opinion with your permission.

Many years ago, before computers and television, newspapers were pretty much confined to the news in their local areas, or in colonial days, newspapers were distributed along the East coast among the 13 Colonies. Later, as we grew bigger, the saying became "Get the information out to the North,

East, West and South." This was later shortened to "NEWS" which is the word we use today for disseminating information. Today, the media does play a large part in the politics and point of view of our country, they have even publicly stated, "In our opinion, the Media counts for a third (1/3rd) of the Vote!" So, even in their own words they obviously "spin" the news. I personally, think we need the news of the country and the world, I just wish the Media was more objective and less opinionated. In as much as they are Governmentally subsidized financially, I think there should be a law against their "spinning of the facts." Having said that, I'm sure there are about 33% of the General Public out there who would disagree with me about the Media because they are all Democrats, as is the Media. I think your opinions are on the right track, basically.

Good Luck!
Reply:How exactly would we know it was a better world without any news/ information? what basis would we have to compare?
Reply:they nearly been with any decent news in america.for

twenty years now.and it is happen here now they do not want you to know whats going on.its called duming down.just look at the sh*te on the tv every day of the week.kids today cant find a place on the map.or whats going on in the world.but they can tell you every last detail about big brother.so it must be working.
Reply:Much better.
Reply:That would be like an ostrich with its head it the sand
Reply:no because we wouldnt know any of the current events
Reply:I don't think totally eliminating the media in the world would be a good idea. There are things that need to come to the publics attention like scandals, corruption, heroes, etc. I do agree with you though our media has become an opinionated media writing articles with their opinion in it. That's not the right way to Journalism. Many uneducated people in politics or a certain subjects like Global Warming read an article that convince the reader to the left or right and they believe it. They don't go and look at another article that may contradict it on the internet or wherever so they can make up their mind on what is the real truth. I also don't believe the media should have any involvement in wars. They have no place there. As we've seen in the Vietnam and now with Afghan. and Iraq the media doesn't help and just falters the troops moral and the country's support reporting all the negatives and no positives(not that there are a lot of positives in war but there are some things in Iraq like a new park that was built that was never reported). They also tell the enemy where we are striking before we strike them. I believe that was the reason Bin Laden was able to get away. You know the good people aren't the only one's who watch TV and read the news. So do the terrorist and enemies.
Reply:The media is the mirror of society.

It reflects us.

People want to hear what they want to hear.

The media now is doing just that telling us what we want to hear.

CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR give liberals what they want to hear.

Fox gives conservatives what they want to hear.

Few I do mean very few want to hear the whole truth.

The last person who told the whole truth was nail to a tree.
Reply:No cause I wouldn't have know what happened in work today as I'm off and back in tomorrow
Reply:We all need to be informed of what is going on in the world so I think we need news.

Media can sometimes cause problems, but thety are there, foremost, to tell us what is happening in the world.

I watch Fox News and that tends to show both sides of an arguement and lets the viewer use his or her own intelligence.

There is always those with bias to one side or another and I find Fox a refreshiong change.

Great question and your English is just fine.
Reply:YES no news is good news LOL

We moved from a large town who always had bad news to print (muggins, rape etc..) now we live in a smaller town and the news is so much more positive there! i try not to read the news when i go back home as it depresses me!!!!!!!
Reply:You make a good point. The media has become so large and efficient that when something happens at one end of the world we very soon know about it at the other end. This creates false impressions and people get worked up about it.

So yes I do think we might be better off with less media influence.
